5. Conclusions
In this paper a method for the real-time detection of collision between deformable solids has been presented. Although inspired by existing algorithms, the novelty of the proposed technique lies in the use of computational vademecums, i.e., pre-computed solutions that are exploited on-line at very high feedback rates. Here, the proposed method has been successfully tested on a Geomagic Touch device needing for 1 kHz feedback rates. These extremely efficient vademecums are previously computed with the help of Proper Generalized Decomposition strategies, in order to alleviate the burden associated with the curse of dimensionality, i.e., the exponential increase of the number of degrees of freedom with the number of dimensions (parameters) of the problem.
